Atif Islam
Atif Islam has over twenty years of experience as a practicing transactional attorney, with a primary focus on technology, market data, intellectual property, procurement, and outsourcing. He began his career at the law firm Fried Frank in New York where he practiced in the area of capital markets and securities. Subsequently, he held a number of senior positions at leading financial services firms. Atif led the Market Data Legal team at Goldman, Sachs for several years, supporting the function through developing and structuring workflow models for legal data strategy across the firm, leading negotiations with key material data providers, negotiating agreements for platforms and other large technology solutions, and providing advice to the procurement and business functions in the data and vendor management groups. While at Goldman Sachs, Atif led a team of attorneys and negotiators. Atif also led the Technology and Outsourcing Legal team supporting Scotia Capital, the broker-dealer segment of Scotiabank, in Toronto and New York, negotiating large scale platform agreements and relationships, market data agreements, cloud-based solutions and vendor contracts supporting a number of different segments across the organization, including equities, prime finance, wealth management and international segments. Atif also has relevant experience at TD Bank and Nortel Networks.
