This document outlines SRD Legal Group’s (“SRD”) approach to the use of Artificial Intelligence (“AI”) in our legal operations and client services. Our goal is to responsibly leverage AI technologies to enhance efficiency and service delivery while maintaining the highest standards of confidentiality and professional judgment.

Understanding AI and Its Role

AI refers to a range of technologies that enable systems to perform tasks that typically require human intelligence. Key concepts include:

Artificial Intelligence (AI): Broad technologies that simulate aspects of human intelligence.
Machine Learning (ML): A subset of AI that enables systems to learn patterns from data.
Large Language Models (LLMs): ML-based systems designed to process and generate human language.
Generative AI: AI systems capable of generating new content, including text, summaries and analyses.

SRD’s Use of AI Models

SRD primarily leverages Harvey AI, a legal-focused generative AI platform, to assist with tasks such as drafting initial redlines, precedent and key term search, translation, compiling deal team emails, conducting legal research and contract drafting. SRD uses AI-enabled tools to support these activities in order to achieve operational efficiency.

SRD uses AI as a supporting tool, not a replacement for legal analysis, professional judgment or attorney oversight. All AI-generated content is thoroughly reviewed by our attorneys.

Commitment to Security, Confidentiality and Professional Responsibility

Client confidentiality and data protection are foundational to SRD’s legal practice. Our use of AI is guided by our professional obligations, applicable ethical rules and industry best practices.

SRD does not permit AI tools to access client-specific data or information without explicit consent from the client.

Where client consent has been obtained, we implement reasonable and appropriate safeguards to protect sensitive and confidential information used in connection with AI-enabled tools. Client data is NEVER used to train or improve AI tools. SRD carefully reviews vendor data-handling practices on an ongoing basis to ensure that any client information uploaded to an AI tools remains protected and is used solely for its intended purpose.

SRD’s Principles for Responsible AI Use

SRD’s AI use is guided by the following principles:

Transparency: Clear communication about how and when AI tools are used.
Human Oversight: Attorneys and legal professionals remain accountable for all work product.
Ethical Use: AI use aligns with professional responsibility rules and client expectations.
Privacy and Security: Client consent prior to any use of AI tools with client confidential and sensitive data.
Accuracy and Reliability: AI outputs are reviewed and validated before use.
Fairness and Bias Awareness: Ongoing awareness of potential bias in AI-generated outputs.
Explainability: AI-assisted work must be understandable and defensible vis a vis the efficiencies achieved.

Internal Oversight: SRD maintains internal review and approval processes for AI tools and use cases.
Vendor Oversight: Third-party AI vendors, including Harvey AI, are evaluated on an ongoing basis for security, confidentiality and compliance standards.
